Craig Kingsman

Mystery author and conference presenter

Craig Kingsman writes about murder because committing it would be a real bummer for the victim.

He grew up in a Utah Mormon family and spent time every summer on his grandparent’s dairy farm in a very small town in southern Idaho. This provided him to the ideas for his Zane Grayson Mysteries series — family, small rural town, and religious themes.

Craig spent many years as a globally recognized software engineer and architect. Because of his technical thought leadership, he was a presenter at tech conferences across North America and Europe. He continually honed his speaking skills, but it didn’t stop there. Craig also authored two books and numerous magazine articles on software engineering. This support for developers garnered him the Most Valuable Professional award from Microsoft, twenty-two years in a row.

Now, he turns his creative efforts to write mysteries. His first publish short story, “The Butler Did It” was praised by readers for taking a unique spin on an old cliché. His debut novel, Murder Comes Home, has been called “a traditional mystery done right.”

Having learned what it takes to build a software developer community, Craig now supports the writer community by speaking at conferences and writing groups. He is a member of Sisters in Crime, Private Eye Writers of America, and Utah Mystery Writers.

He lives in the Wasatch mountains of Northern Utah with his wife and two cats. You can find him as @kingsmanbooks on social media, his website craigkingsman.com, conferences, and other writer events.
